Martin Odegaard is due to start at Real Madrid

As have provided a fresh installment of information regarding 16-year-old Martin Ødegaard on Thursday.

Since Tuesday it has become apparent that the much-prized Norwegian teenager is looking destined to join Real Madrid.

That transfer speculation was given a backbone on Wednesday evening as Ødegaard was pictured in the stands at the Vicente Calderon to watch Real lose 2-0 to Atletico in the Copa Del Rey.

The 16-year-old will undergo a medical Thursday before being introduced at a press conference at the Ciudad Real Madrid training facility at 13.30 CET.

Wednesday morning, Stromsgodset teammate Martin Ovenstad told news outlets that Odegaard would sign with Real Madrid after being courted by a host of Europe’s biggest clubs and finest academies. Odegaard has already spent time with Madrid’s first team as he toured clubs across the continent, having spent time with Bayern Munich and Liverpool as well.

Odegaard scored five goals in 23 games for Stromsgodset to help the team finish fourth in the Tippeligaen last year. Last October, he became the youngest player in the history of the European Championship when he came on as a substitute in Norway’s 2-1 victory over Bulgaria in a Euro 2016 qualifier.
